How to Overcome the Obstacles That Keep Us From Living the Life We Want?

Obstacles can be external variables that we need to overcome; but they can also be self-imposed. Last time we talked about ACTION being essential for success. By why is it so hard? What self-imposed obstacles are holding you back?
Often, the ability to push through fear is the only thing that separates those who succeed from those who fail.

Why is it so hard to take action?

Until this year I basically lived a life on inaction. Why? Because I believed myself when I said that I couldn’t. It’s as simple ast that!

Let’s explore some common obstacles/ limiting beliefs that kept me from following my dreams in the past and see if any of them resonate with you.

Common Self-imposed Obstacles

I can’t…

This one was HUGE for me. Especially when I was overweight. There were so many things that I convinced myself I couldn’t do just because of my size or lack of skill.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't you're right
Believe in YOURSELF and all that you ae. Know that there is something inside of you that is Greater than any obstacle

I don’t know how to…

This was a bigger factor before the internet (especially YouTube). Figuring out HOW to do something was much more difficult before google. Now, with a few taps of the keyboard, you can find articles, videos, academic papers, tutorials on just about anything.

This limiting belief has actually taken on a different form for me since then. I often find myself getting lost in the sea of information. Doing too much research. Looking at the situation(s) from every possible angle. This sounds great in theory but I would literally spend so much trying to figure out the HOW that either get overwhelmed or I would burn out. My resolve would fizzle out!

It’s not the right time to…

Waiting for the “perfect” time to act is a losing proposition. There is no “perfect” time. Granted, there are better times than others but the BEST time is Today! Waiting for “someday,” is waiting for a time that may never come.

What will “they” think about …

The need for acceptance is a basic human instinct. From an evolutionary standpoint, being part of a community was necessary for survival. But think of all of the innovations that were created by people who were mocked. Do you have a horseless carriage (car)? Have you ridden on an airplane or have used a computer? Social media, cell phones… the wheel, fire. Innovations are created by people who think outisde of the box. But like I have said many times before. Only you  are uniquely you. If you are driven to do something. If you feel that it is your life purpose. Then you MUST act! Those who do not understand will either come around or they will not. There is a reason you feel this passion and you must follow it!

What if It is the “wrong” action

There is no “wrong” choice. You make the best choice possible given the information you have available (by all means do your due diligence) and then you act. If it doesn’t work out that you re-evaluate and move in a different direction. There is no wrong choice because everything is an opportunity to learn and grow. Did you know that many inventions were created because of a mistake? Get out there and start making some mistakes! After all, inaction is a choice too, ask yourself “what do I want?” and then go for it!

Life is all about making choices.
mistakes are proof that you are trying
